On February 27th, Chickering students and staff celebrated their completion of our 4th Annual Fit & Lit Incentive.  The students were eager to learn which classroom had read and exercised with the closest balanced minutes and 100% participation.

Third place: Mrs Brannelly’s second grade class with 95% participation and minutes closely balanced earned a story read by Mr. Downing and ice cream sandwiches

Second place: Mrs. Delaney’s kindergarten class with 95% participation and minutes closely balanced earned an extra P.E. class with Ms Riordan

First place: Mrs. Donna Power’s first grade class with 100% participation and minutes closely balanced earned a pizza lunch with Mrs. Chase in the library

All the students were praised for all their efforts.  Together we read 624,830 minutes or 10,414 hours!  Together we exercised 517,590 minutes or 8,627 hours!  We celebrated our newest readers with a special “Star Reader” charm this year for kindergarten and first grade students.

It was wonderful to see the students proudly showing off their book and sneakers charms, which displayed all their work.  How wonderful to encourage exercising ones whole body in reading and exercising!
