Paleontologists at Work

Over the past two weeks, the second grade paleontologists have been busy researching a particular dinosaur.  We have a fabulous new database with great information about the dinosaurs, which once roamed the earth.  It can be accessed from anywhere in the world, 24/7!

The above QR code, which links automatically to the YouTube link, shown above, will provide a video tutorial for accessing our amazing new Science Databases.

Once the students have exhausted all the information about their dinosaur, there are additional resource suggestions. The item in the sidebar titled “Find Out More” contains websites and print books they may find helpful.

One of the great features of this database is that the students can listen to the content and follow along as it reads to them.  There is a lot of new science vocabulary that they may know from listening but it may be the first time they see these words in print.  This is a great aid for the students and they can listen and read this as many times as needed to identify the most important information to use and note.  Students should “pause” to write their notes and then “play” to pick up where they left off.  If they choose “stop” the recording returns to the beginning of the page.

I am looking forward to seeing what wonderful projects our Paleontologists create.

Happy ‘digging’!

Mrs. Chase
